Biomimetic Robotics Laboratory

About Us

This is a robotic research group led by Dr Henry Kar Hang Chu at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Our lab focuses on developing the principles and tools needed for the automation of various tasks at the meso and micro levels. Examples of our research projects include 3D parallel micro-assembly of semiconductor devices, robotic surgical knot tying, soft robotics, bio-inspired robots, and rapid patterning of biological cells for artificial tissue development. Our research covers a variety of problems in -
  • Robotic Perception, Manipulation, Control, Automation and Learning
  • Micro-system Design and Tissue Engineering
Our group encompasses researchers with expertise in mechanical, electrical, biomedical engineering, and computer science.

What's new

  • 2022-07-01 - Henry has been promoted to Associate Professor! Congratulations!
  • 2022-02-18 - Pleased to share that we have two papers accpeted by IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters in February. Way to go, Team!
  • 2021-11-15 - Our paper ''Reconstructing External Force on the Circumferential Body of Continuum Robot with Embedded Proprioceptive Sensors'' has been accpeted by IEEE Transactions on Industrial Elelctronics. Congrats! Qingxiang!
